Happy Travel Thursday travel bunnies! How is your mental and emotional health doing? I know there’s a lot going on in the world right now and I hope this is a safe space for you to just breathe. Today, I’m sharing the 5 things I don’t travel without, which is another 5 series. If you missed the other, check here, here, here . Of course there’s your passport, phone and essentials like that however, I’m talking about the other essentials.

5 Things I don’t Travel Without

Water Bottle

The one time I forgot my water bottle was on my last trip and ended up with a migraine for most of the flight. Taking an empty water bottle with me through security and filling up with water from the fountains saves me from having to buy a plastic bottle. This also helps the environment too, a win win situation.

Spf

A beach holiday, a city break or just going home to Trinidad and Tobago, spf is a must. Just like you wouldn’t leave your home without locking your doors, I don’t leave home without spf. Regardless of the weather I always apply spf after I moisturise to protect my skin from UVA and UVB rays. Ironically enough this is especially important if you’re in a snowy environment like Norway. The sun rays are amplified by the white of the snow. I swap between spf30 and spf50 but it all depends on what I have in my skincare stash. Do you have a favourite spf?

Moisturiser

I love a good moisturiser and cream mist. As much as I love flying it can dry out my skin which isn’t great. So to add and retain moisture, I always have a moisturiser with me. I also travel with a cream mist in my hand luggage to mist my skin periodically. This is especially helpful on long haul flights. Nothing says I’ve been on a plane like dry ashy skin which I avoid by keeping moisturised.

VPN

American Express has a tagline that goes, ‘never leave home without it’. That’s pretty much how I feel about having a vpn. I wrote a whole blog post about it here but the gist is, you never know who is lurking in cyber world. It’s great to have that security and if you use your phone for practically everything, download it to your phone as well. You can also find vpns that work best with your web browser. This is the best vpn for Firefox if that’s your preferred browser as it is mine. The 2 that I have used are Express VPN and Avira, which has a free version.

Worldwide Travel Adapter

The last thing I don’t travel without is a travel adapter. Yes, the simple world adapter is great but the one that is golden is the one with usb ports. This enables me to charge my laptop and mobile phone at the same time. Great if I’m sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for my room to be ready and need to edit some photos and charge my phone. The one I have is similar to this but just in black and I’d be lost without it.

Those are my 5 things I don’t travel without, how about you? Now that travel is back on the cards, what are your must haves? Let’s chat in the comments below.

Thank you for reading and until next time, be well! x
