5 Skincare Tips I Swear By

Hello beautiful skincare fiends! It’s been a hot minute since my last blog post (here). I failed miserably on publishing 3 blog posts a week on 5 things so here we are! I do have a couple of good excuses though; 1) migraines from hell and 2) I went to Cape Verde for my birthday! I’ll share a blog post on what I got up to later on. So let’s talk about the 5 skincare tips I swear by.

5 Skincare Tips I Swear By

Take it to the Tits (TITTTs)

If you’ve ever seen Caroline Hirons or read her beauty book, you would be aware of this acronym. Essentially, it’s taking the products you’re using on your face all the way down to your chest. Let’s face it, your neck and chest needs tlc as much as your face. Plus, you don’t waste any of your skincare products and spread all the benefits to other areas of your body. Do you TITTTs? Let me know.

Remember Your Hands

Another skincare tip that I swear by is to also apply my face products to my hands. The skin on my hands are thinner than my arms and they are the one area that’s in water constantly. Or, antibacterial gel cleanser which can be drying. I also use a scrub to remove any dead skin cells and apply an oil or cream after. I end up with soft hands and feel luxurious.

Always Wear Spf

A story about the importance of spf. I did a tour whilst in Cape Verde and was riding on the back of a truck. We visited the salt lake and I didn’t reapply spf. I now have a patch on my arm from getting sunburn. So please wear your spf and reapply especially if you’ve been in water. The sun doesn’t care about how deep or light your skintone is. It’s just a matter of how long it takes for it to penetrate skin layers, which is usually minutes.

Acids Can be Friendly

Another skincare tip I swear by relates to AHAs and BHAs. They are a family of acids which helps to exfoliate your skin and gives you that glow! Think of the Ren tonic glow or Dr Gross Alpha Beta peel pads. My skin always feels smooth, my pores are much more refined and clear from blackheads. If you’re nervous about trying it, look for the gentlest one for your skin type. Check out this cheatsheet from Caroline Hirons on acids here.

Remember to Kiss it!

Pucker up lovelies and scrub those lips before applying a lip balm. I have such dry lips especially in the UK. Hmm, maybe it’s a sign that I need to be in the sunshine a bit more? Anyways, the winter and spring months have ravished my lips. So I scrub my lips to remove all the dry skin that’s raised (sorry TMI!) and I apply a lip balm from La Roche Posay called Ciccaplast. I also recently started putting a bit of hyaluronic acid on my lips before I apply the balm. How do you handle dry lips? I’d love to know.

Anyways, these are the 5 skincare tips I swear by and I’d love to know, what are the tips you swear by? Let me know in the comments below.

As always, thanks for reading and until next time, be well! x
