My Dermaplaning Experience, A Review

Oh hello there skincare junkie! How’s your skin doing with this interesting UK weather? It’s been a moment since I’ve had a beauty done professionally. My last one was on laser hair removal which you can read all about here. Today, I’m sharing my dermaplaning experience that I had recently.

My Dermaplaning Experience

What is Dermaplaning

Before I jump in with my dermaplaning experience, I thought I would share what it is exactly. Dermaplaning or ‘face shaving’ is using a small blade to remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz which creates an even skin tone and texture. It also helps your products absorb easier as dead skin cells have been removed. Now I’d been interested in dermaplaning for awhile but a small thing of a pandemic interrupted that interest. However, lately I have been seeing a lot of people talking about it and sharing their experiences, so decided to give it a try. For my first dip into this pond, I decided to have a Beauty Therapist do it.

My Experience

I went to a place called, Beauty by Flavia and purchased a voucher from Living Social for £21. Before purchasing, I have a look at reviews about the place online so I have an idea of what to expect. Before I left home, I cleansed my skin and didn’t wear any makeup. Flavia still double cleansed my skin when I got there and explained the process. She used a fresh blade, told me not to move and gently went to work on removing the dead skin cells and peach fuzz.

When she was finished, my skin felt a bit tingly and she used a toner along with a sunscreen to protect my skin. I was advised to switch my cleanser to something gentle and non-drying. She also said not to use any hot water or perform any exfoliation on my skin for 24 hours.

After the Treatment

Immediately after the treatment my skin looked brighter and felt incredibly smooth. I had tingling for a couple hours post treatment but nothing major.

You can see from the photos above how my skin looked soon after leaving the salon. Below are photos a few hours after arriving home.

Final Thoughts

I am pleased with my dermaplaning experience and would include this into my monthly routine. It’s advised to have this treatment done no more than once month. I’m looking at giving it a try myself next month but using oil instead of just dry as Flavia did.

I’d love to know if you’ve tried dermaplaning before? Or, did my dermaplaning experience make you want to research it and give it a try? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for reading and leaving a comment, until next time, be well! x
