Hello my lovely, how are you? Have you been enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve been having in the UK? It’s been a scorcher and I hope you’re wearing your sunscreen. If not, I’m giving you the frownie face you used to get from your mother. Wear sunscreen! Whilst I’m sure you’re itching to go abroad, you may not feel ready and that’s okay. I’ve got you covered and I’m sharing 6 things you can do in the UK for summer 2021.
6 Things You Can Do In the UK for Summer 2021
1. Plan a Beach Day
You’re probably rolling your eyes like I used to when any talk came up about beaches in the UK. However, there are some really nice ones. I promise you. Last year, I did a photoshoot (ahem!…photographer here) at Botany Bay which is in Kent and a sandy beach! Other beaches you can try are Margate, Broadstairs, Sheerness and Folkestone. These are easy to reach via train which is great if you want to enjoy a glass of prosecco.
2. Visit Exhibitions
I know you’re probably thinking, oh these are boring….but wait! Have you heard of Christopher Guy’s Dollhouse? It’s a miniature dollhouse that was designed and created in the form of a London town house. It took 11 crafts people to make this with collaborations between, Julia Burdet from Designed Magazine, Fromental, Samuel & Sons, Gingerlily, Drummonds and Lalique. Isn’t it stunning!? You can view the dollhouse at Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour and get some inspiration for your current or future home.
Another one is The Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College. Apart from the painted hall which is like the UK’s answer to the Sistene Chapel. There’s the Gaia exhibition which is on display until the 31st July. It showcases a huge illuminated 3D model of earth. You can get your tickets here.
3. Drive-in Cinema
This is a great night out for a group of friends, with the kids or your boo. There are several drive-in cinemas across the country for you to enjoy. From Milton Keynes to Brent Cross to Guilford to London you can find a one. All you’ll need is a car, good company and some snacks for a great night at the movies.
4. Brunch with a Twist
How about brunch at the circus? The fever app has a few bottomless brunch options but my favourite has to be the circus one. For £35 you get a 3 course meal with bottomless prosecco for an hour and pop up circus performances. Or, there’s a Reggae brunch for £39.50 with a Caribbean 3 course meal and instead of prosecco you get rum punch. There are other options which you can choose from on the Fever app.
5. Luxury Picnics
Another thing you can do for summer 2021 is to arrange a picnic. You can arrange it in a park if you don’t have outside space that you can use. When I say luxury picnics, it doesn’t mean its going to be expensive. If you think about it, when you purchase luxury items, part of the experience is in the appearance of the packaging. Applying this mindset to a picnic you can create something beautiful. Presentation of the food is key and also making an effort in what you wear. If you can’t be bothered to diy it, check out these options here, here and here.
6. Weekend Break to Edinburgh
My final suggestion is to visit Scotland. I still find it ludicrous that I am yet to visit Edinburgh which doesn’t even require a plane ride. So I am aiming to do my summer city break to this beautiful city and here’s why. It’s a few hours on a train so I could leave on a Friday morning and be there by lunch time. There’s lots to see and do: Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s seat and whiskey tasting.
There are loads more you can do but these are my 6 things you can do in the UK for summer 2021. If you’d like more ideas leave me a comment and I’ll happily do a part 2.
