Hey fashion giraffe how are you doing today? I haven’t done a shoe post in a hot minute. So here’s my latest shoe obsession, the square toe mule. Before we begin, I know there’s alot of crappy stuff happening in the world and this post is a bit of light hearted relief. I hope you and your family are keeping and if you need a bit of extra support, check here, here and here.
The Square Toe Mule
This trend gained popularity because of Bottega Veneta who has some amazing pieces. However, Mr BV has some amazing prices too and honestly, I would rather spend that kind of money on a plane ticket to Bali.
Neutral Mules
Neutrals can be seen as boring but, they’re actually great when paired with something colourful. Or, a classic all neutral look.
I found this beige pair, called Briya, on a website called Raid. Original price is £29.99 and they’re pretty comfortable. Well comfortable enough to prance up and down in your living room :). The true test will come when I can wear them to lunch, out, with other people.
The other ever popular neutral, black is a must have in my wardrobe. Similar to the Briya, these square toe mules are fairly narrow in shape and comfy as hell! I picked these up from Dune and they’re called the Mantra.
When I think about styling these square toe mules, I have 2 schools of thought. One; simple relaxed fit high waisted jeans with a bodysuit and a shirt tied around the waist. Next, a printed dress with some ruffles at the hem. A bit like this H&M X Johanna Ortiz dress.
The Colourful Mule
The square toe mule that is perfect for spring and summer is, the vibrant blue square toe mule from Ego. I love blue and this definitely caught my eye.
It’s the kind of colour that you can style with so many outfits. If you’re dipping your toe into colour, this is a perfect way to do so. Throw on some beige faux leather trousers and a white top with these shoes, and you’re good to go.
Or if you’ve already embraced colour, go wild with a bit of print like this dress.
As you can tell, I’m a lover of the square toe mule. How about you? Is it something that you would add to your wardrobe? I’d love to know how you would style it. Let me know in the comments below.
As always, thank you for reading and remember to stay safe. Until next time, be well! x
