Comfy Autumn and Winter Travel Pieces

Hello my fellow travel and fiends! How are you and when is your next flight out? šŸ™‚ Today’s post is all about comfy autumn and winter travel pieces. When you’re travelling, especially long haul you want to not only be comfortable, but warm. There’s nothing worse than too tight clothes and freezing on a flight or a 3 hour train journey to Amsterdam. Here are 2 looks I’ve put together for autumn and winter.

Comfy Autumn and Winter Travel Pieces

The Puffer Jacket

A puffer jacket is the ultimate piece of clothing when you’re travelling during autumn but especially during winter. Let’s face it, airplanes and some airports are cold. There’s nothing worse that having a 9 hour layover in an airport and you can’t leave. There are only so many hot chocolates a girl could drink to keep warm.

Anyway, the puffer jacket solves that problem and this is the perfect one from *Glamify Fashion, who kindly gifted me this one. It has a removal faux fur trim on the hood, a tie waist and pockets! There are also ties at the wrist which you can adjust and prevent any wind from finding a way inside your arm. It’s also made incredibly well and I anticipate that I will be using this for many years to come. The padding isn’t too big but sufficient to keep me warm because I really do feel the cold. I could have used this when I was standing out in the middle of a field in Iceland trying to see the Northern Lights. One of the features that I love is that it isn’t too short so my butt is covered too! In terms of fit, I went with a large so I can wear thicker items underneath if I need to.

There’s currently an offer on their faux fur coats and lounge wear which is perfect for travelling in. Please check them out and let me know if you pick something up!

On Top

I prefer to travel in a 2-piece instead of a dress during autumn and winter. It’s easy to layer and peel off said layers. So I aim for long sleeve cotton t-shirts because whilst sitting in the airport, I won’t overheat. The cotton fabric keeps me cool and if it’s ridiculously cold, I can add thermals underneath. It’s great if I’ve travelled back to Trinidad when it’s winter here because I can roll up the sleeves. Or easily pull it off and just be in a thermal vest.

Thermal Underwear

When I first discovered Uniqlo heattech range, I died and went to heaven on a warm cloud. The come in a variety of colours, sizes and styles. There’s even a thermal turtle neck style which would look great under the puffer jacket from Glamify Fashion. The best way, I’ve found to wear the Heattech range is to put it on as a first layer then the long sleeve t-shirt and your coat. Maximise the heat.

Easy to Remove Shoes

My final clothing item are shoes but not just any shoes. These need to be easily removed when you’re going through security. Trainers are great for the airport, or, Ugg boots. You want your feet to stay comfy and please do remember to wear clean socks without any holes. There’s nothing worse that having to walk through the scanner whilst everyone sees your holey socks :).

Those are my 4 comfy autumn and winter travel pieces. I’d love to know what are you must have pieces when you’re travelling. Let me know in the comments below so I can see if there’s something I need to add.
