Hello my travel junkies how has autumn been treating you? You probably read this title and was a little bit taken aback by it given the fact that I am a self-confessed wanderlust junkie. However, as with everything in life that’s good there are things that aren’t so good. So here are 5 Things You Should Know About Pitfalls of Travelling.
5 Things You Should Know About Pitfalls of Travelling
Early Starts
I am not naturally an early riser but I can be when I have to be. Sometimes catching that 6am flight can mean that you pay £75 less for your flights. It also does mean that depending on where you live, you will need to be up at the crack of dawn to get to the airport on time. Early starts can also mean getting to that tourist location before everyone else or, because it’s miles away from where you’re staying.
Crappy Weather
The weather is a law of its own and when you think you’re going to get sunshine, you might actually get thunderstorms. Or, if you’re expecting snow but it doesn’t happen so you can’t ski. When these things happen you just roll with the punches and adjust your plan. It can be disappointing but also rewarding in some ways.
Underwhelming Locations or Sites
Have you ever seen photos of a place and it made you book that trip just to see it? Then when you get there you were so disappointed and underwhelmed? I had heard and seen so much about the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen and when I got there, I was underwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s lovely and there’s even the story about some people who stole her and decapitated her. I know and I have no idea why. Some humans are mind boggling! Anyways it didn’t live up to the hype.
Food
I am adventurous when it comes to food (except peanut and pickles) but, some food can disagree with you. If you aren’t used to eating spicy food and go some place where they serve alot of that, please expect quality time in the toilet. It has happened to me before and here’s my advice. Ease yourself into the local food if you aren’t used to spices. Coca Cola is a necessary evil in that it can help an upset tummy or, take some peptobismol type medication with you.
Crappy Flights
I’m all for finding cheap flights but and however, I will not be flying with an airline that hasn’t got a good reputation. That could be poor customer service, racism (cough Ryanair cough), not safe or crapped seats (not great when travelling long haul). Do not compromise your safety or comfort to save a few coins because it’s really not worth it!
Now these are the 5 Things You Should Know About Pitfalls of Travelling in my experience and there are more. Despite these I will still travel as much and as often as I can. What about you?
