Hello, beautiful humans! How are you? I seemed to have taken an unplanned break but life has been lifing! Also, this is the first time in years that I don’t have any trips planned for the year. I know! Who am I? Like I said, life has been lifing and with that in mind I’m sharing 5 things I am doing to manage stress. We all have stress in our lives and actually a little bit of stress is needed however, too much is no bueno!
5 Things I am Doing to Manage Stress
Turn Up the Volume
I love listening to music and when I am stressed, I seem to naturally listen to feel good playlists that get me dancing. Coming from the Caribbean, I love soca because it’s designed to make you feel good and alive. But, honestly I just enjoy music that raises my vibration and it makes my workouts more bearable. Listening to music helps with stress management because it reduces cortisol and anxiety. Tell me you don’t feel good after listening to your favourite song or playlist. Also, listening to music encouraged me to do something else to manage stress…
Dance Classes
I started, stopped and have resumed Cuban Salsa classes. After a long work day all I want to do is starfish in my bed however, that’s not really living. Plus the class is only an hour long. So for 1 hour a week I learn new steps, laugh and dance the stress away. I found an easy and affordable way to pay for the class is via ClassPass. I just book through the app and turn up. Easy peasy!
Walking
I started walking because working from home isn’t conducive to getting your steps in and I only have 30 minutes for lunch. So for 20 minutes I’ll take a stroll whilst listening to a manifestation audio or music. When I return to work I’m feeling so much better and have actually got some fresh air into my lungs. I’ve also started to do little 15 minute interval jogs in the morning after my workout. Being in the daylight helps with my circadian rhythm so when the sun goes down my brain knows it’s time to rest.
Make A Plan
One of the ways that I manage stress is through planning. It gives me some semblance of control by having a set of things to do, to get me from point A to point B. Instead of focusing on the actual problem causing the stress, I focus on the solution. When I focus on the solution my stress levels start to reduce a bit more and it doesn’t matter if the plan works or doesn’t work because plans can adjust.
Travel
The final thing I do to manage stress is to travel! This shouldn’t be a surprise if you’re a long time reader of this blog. For me, travel is a way to change scenery which helps me shift perspective which makes stress management a bit easier. Do you find travelling helps you with stress? Let me know the comments below. Also, who could stressed sipping a cocktail on a sandy beach watching the waves.
These are the 5 things I am doing to manage stress and I would love to know how you manage stress.
