Hello beautiful people! We talk alot about skincare (here and here) on this blog including body care. However, the one thing we haven’t delved into which is surprising and that’s nails. So today’s post is all about how to grow your nails. If you have always wanted to grow your nails long, but you find that they always end up breaking, getting brittle, or you bite them before they can flourish, then there are a few things you probably need to know about browning strong and healthy nails you will truly love.

How to Grow Your Nails

Hydrate Like You Mean It

We’re always told to drink more water, but funnily enough, your nails need some hydration too – and not just from the inside. Your cuticles are like the gatekeepers of nail growth, so if you’ve been neglecting them, it’s time to get cosy with a good cuticle oil as part of your regular beauty routine. Massage it in daily (yes, daily) and you’ll notice your nails not only growing faster but looking healthier. It’s basically the nail version of a facial. And remember, dry nails are breaky nails – so hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Don’t Skip the File

If you’re growing your nails out, it’s tempting to let them do their thing and not bother with any filing. Wrong. Keeping your nails neatly filed actually helps prevent those sneaky little breaks that set you back to square one. And for the love of your future long nails, file in one direction. No back-and-forth action here – unless you fancy a set of split, ragged nails. Trust me ragged nails are no fun especially when you’re washing your hair…ouch!

HEMA-Free Builder Gels

When your nails need a bit more oomph in the strength department, HEMA free builder gel products are your secret weapon. Unlike their chemical-laden cousins, these gels are kinder to your nails while still giving them a nice protective boost. Think of it as a suit of armour for your nails, but without the weight of carrying a medieval knight on your fingertips. Just don’t rely on it to do all the work – you still need to follow the basics of nail care.

Cut Back on the Biting (You Know Who You Are)

Nail biters, it’s time for some tough love. You’re never going to have long nails if you keep nibbling them away in times of stress, boredom, or hunger (yes, we see you). If you can’t resist, try coating your nails in a nasty-tasting polish or go for a manicure so fab, you’ll be too horrified to ruin it. Plus, nail-biting isn’t exactly cute, is it? I see you shaking your head because you agree with me.

Nails Need a Breather Too

We get it – you love a good gel mani. Who doesn’t? But constant applications of gel or acrylics can weaken your nails over time. Give them a break between manicures to let them breathe and repair themselves. Think of it like a detox, but without the green juice. This will allow them to regain strength and grow without being suffocated under layers of polish and chemicals.

Patience Is Key (Sorry, No Magic Here)

The truth is, nails grow at a snail’s pace. The average nail grows about 3mm a month, which is slower than waiting for your online shopping delivery. But with patience and the right care, your nails will eventually flourish. In the meantime, focus on keeping them healthy, hydrated, and strong. This is the best tip because in being patient you will learn what works for you and how to grow your nails (the strong and healthy way).

Here’s to strong, healthy nails that will look good no matter whether you visit the nail salon or not! Thank you for reading and until next time, be well! x
