Hello you travel junkies! Thanks for the love on my recent posts on Lisbon, it was a fantastic holiday (read here and here) but it isn’t my best ever holiday. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you would know that my best ever holiday is Bali! I will stick a caveat here and say that I’m still alive and able to travel so I would hope this could be beaten 🙂
My Best Ever Holiday
The Place
Bali was not on my wanderlust really, it was just one of those locations that I thought, ‘yeah it’ll be nice one day’. Bali was actually on my bff travel list and when I worked out that it was pretty doable to do both Bangkok and Bali, we both said ‘hell yeah!’
We went for a week and it was much needed after the frenetic pace of Bangkok. We weren’t frenetic but the city was. When you land, it’s almost as if you can leave your troubles behind and the stress melts away. There was something familiar, yet different about Bali which is probably why it ended up being my best ever holiday.
What We Did
I didn’t plan anything prior and in some ways that’s a really good thing. I think that sometimes planning every minute of every day can be a bit of a kill joy and it doesn’t allow for any spontaneity. So we planned when we arrived and boy did we have an amazing time!
First there was Snorkeling and Turtle Beach. I have always wanted to try snorkeling since I’m not so great at diving, although I want to be! I’m the chick that flips over in the water because I can’t stay upright! Anyways, I got the opportunity to try snorkeling and enjoyed it. Can you say water baby!
One of the things I didn’t know was how much the Balinese were into animal conservation. Turtle Beach checks the health of the turtles to ensure that they can continue to survive in the sea. They rely on contributions made by visitors and the kindness of residents to volunteer their time, to keep going. So go and visit!
We also visited the Sacred Monkey Forest and thoroughly enjoyed watching the monkeys be in their natural habitat. We were guests in their territory which put things into perspective about how interconnected we all are.
One of the best things about this already amazing trip was just being by the beach, feet in sand and watching the sunset. It really is the simple things in life that can puts things into perspective. I always used to share my trips with my mom when she was alive because it was she who inspired me to travel and see more of the world. So sharing the photos with her before her passing also made it my best ever holiday.
It’s been great to sharing with you and hopefully I will have another amazing trip to share with you in the near future. My next adventure would be to go on Safari in Tanzania. I know right! That would be amazing and a trip of a lifetime. Imagine getting to see all the animals in person that you’ve only seen watching David Attenborough documentaries. Plus, I haven’t visited the African continent yet and this would be my first experience there. I imagine it will pretty much be in the top spot for my best ever holiday. Yellow Zebra Safaris are currently running a competition for 2 people to win a luxury safari trip. Maybe you can try your luck 😉
I would love to know what’s your best holiday ever? Let me know in the comments below.
As always, thank you for reading, commenting and subscribing it means the world to me. Also, wish me luck with my entry into the competition!
Until next time, be well!
