Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Hello, my travel giraffes! Hope you’re loving this short work week? If you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t you should) then you would know that I was recently in Bangkok! Visiting Thailand has been on my bucket list for ages and when I booked this trip last year, it was like a dream come thru. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to visit the other islands and remained in the city so we made the best of it. One of the things we did get to do was the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

Yes I read the blogs and reviews before about floating markets and that they weren’t worth the money. However, I looked at it this way, I didn’t fly 11+ hours all the way to Southeast Asia to just eat food and shop.

So off we went to a couple of tour vendors and after some haggling got a decent price for the trip. Don’t worry I’ve got a post coming soon with tips from one of my bffs who is a pro at haggling!

Insight

What was interesting to see was the interaction the vendors had with each other. For instance, the established market vendors bought their lunch from other vendors who were in boats.

Also, apart from the sound of the engines, it was relatively quiet, peaceful and didn’t smell! Which if you’ve ever been around Bangkok, you would know the smell I’m talking about.

Should you Go?

Honestly, I think that it’s the kind of place you go to if you have the time. It’s not in Bangkok and took us about an hour or more, because of traffic. There’s always traffic in Bangkok.  With that said, if you have other things you would like to do, then give it a miss. I don’t regret going at all but that’s because I had time and Bali was next 🙂
