Happy Autumn beauties! It feels like autumn has well and truly arrived and whilst I don’t often do fashion posts, because who is taking my photos? Anyways, here’s my first fashion post for the new season and it’s on functional fashion for the A/W season. As the colder months approach, we are all getting excited about the prospect of showing off those classy A/W styles. While there will be many events where you can dress to impress, you can’t ignore the need for function.
Here are some functional fashion choices that will help you look and feel the part throughout the coming months.
Functional Fashion For The A/W Season
Warming Baselayers & Accessories
As the temperatures drop, keeping warm is essential. A thick coat is great but you’ll also lose heat from your head and hands. HeatHolders thermal gloves for women will keep your hands warm. And this prevents discomfort and potential shivering. Meanwhile, a wooly yet stylish hat will prevent heat loss from the head, which will make a huge difference.
While many clothes will keep the heat in, some will restrict your movement. This can be problematic depending on the activity or setting. So, opting for thermal baselayer clothes is another very wise move. Just be sure to take accurate body measurements so that you can find items that actually fit and support your natural shape.
Suitable Footwear Choices
Yes, the beautiful heels are great for the staff party or other festivities during this period. However, you need a diverse range of footwear choices for different scenarios. Trail walks, for example, demand comfortable boots. They need enough grip to handle muddy or slippery surfaces while also fitting your foot shape to avoid blisters.
Don’t make this an afterthought, though. A stylish pair of walking boots can provide the foundation for building your look. Colour coordination and stylistic pairings will ensure you look and feel your best. Better still, it’ll give you the opportunity to grab some truly incredible candid photos on your outdoors adventures.
Bags
You won’t have to wear your gloves, hats, scarves, and other accessories at all times. So, where are you going to keep them? A functional yet fashionable bag is one of the most important purchases you’ll make at this time. It needs to be large enough for the items you want to store, and made of a suitable material for the adverse weather you may face.
Opting for H&M suede bags can be a great option. They are enjoying a resurgence in popularity thanks to the soft textures and muted tones. Larger suede bags boast more than enough capacity for the winter accessories too. Tote bags and other over the shoulder options are highly popular while leather and nylon are ideal material choices. A tip, spray your suede bags with suede protective spray so it lasts long. You can thank me later.
Skincare Products
OK, you could argue that it strictly falls into beauty rather than fashion. Nevertheless, skincare will have a huge influence on your appearance. And it takes on an even greater importance at this time of the year. Finding skincare products for glowing skin can truly make your look pop in the winter months. And it will reduce the need for excessive makeup applications. As well as keeping the skin moisturised and hydrated, you’ll need to protect it against the sun. Yes, even in winter. SPF lip balms are an essential addition to your beauty routine. When supported by a winning daily routine, particularly in terms of removing makeup before bed, it will be a A/W season to remember.
This is all I have for you on functional fashion for the A/W season. Tell me in the comments below, what are you looking forward to wearing now that summer is over? Also, if you’d like to share more fashion content on the blog, let me know.
As always, thank you for reading and until next time, be well! X
