Welcome back to the blog beautiful people! How is your summer going? I’ve been enjoying the lovely weather we’ve been having in London. I know a lot of people complain that it’s too hot however, it’s here for a good time not a long time. Anyway, today I thought I’d share 5 things I am too old for, lifestyle edition. I did the skincare edition, which you can read more about here.
5 Things I am too Old for, lifestyle edition
Waiting for Others
Similar to the UK summer, we’re also only here for a short period of time and waiting for others won’t do. I think back to the amount of places I’ve been to, shows I’ve seen solo. Had I waited for someone then I would be filled with regret. Living in regret is a heavy burden to carry along with the other crap we have to carry. I’m just not doing it anymore. What about you?
Not Doing the Work
All of us has had some kind of traumatic event happen in our lives. Whether it’s in childhood or as an adult, everyone has had some hard cards dealt out to them. This however, doesn’t mean that it’s someone else’s responsibility to do the work on healing the wounds. Unfortunately, that isn’t how life works and although a tough journey it’s rewarding. We get to unlearn the things that cause us harm and no longer serve us. Also create the space to be more of ourselves and lead fulfilling lives.
Hurt People, Hurt People
I am sure you have heard this phrase time and time again. I know I definitely have! For a long time I to also believed this and I’m not here to change your belief. What I’m sharing is that this is something I no longer subscribe to. The reason for this is that, alot of hurt people do not hurt others. Some do their utmost best to not hurt others because their unhealed parts. So to have a blanket statement that hurt people, hurt people does a disservice to those of us who don’t.
Not Valuing Myself
As a recovering people pleaser, it took me a hot minute to realise that I have value as much as the next person. They’re neither above nor below me. When you don’t value yourself, it leaks into how you view yourself, what you wear, eat and more. Besides, a lot of people don’t know when to stop taking and who can blame them if it’s being offered up for free?
Not Accepting Things for What They Are
The final thing on my list of 5 things I am too old for lifestyle edition is, not accepting reality. I was reading something and it said that suffering stems from not accepting what is. I believe this is a Buddhist philosophy but do correct me if I’m wrong. Anyway, have you ever noticed that when you don’t accept the truth of what is, you end up suffering in some way? Yeah, I’m not doing that anymore because it’s less painful. Of course this doesn’t mean we can’t change things but to get to the change bit, we have to accept things as they are.
That’s all from me today and now I’d love to hear what your list of 5 are. Share in the comments below and get the discussion going.
Thank you for reading and until next time, be well! X
