One of the things I’ve learnt about skincare is that consistency is your bff. However, cleanliness is right up there in the things I’ve learnt about skincare. So needless to say when I heard about the #60secondrule I was game for trying. Especially as it wasn’t costing me any money! A win, win if you ask me. Read on to learn more and my thoughts on the 60 second rule.
My Thoughts on the 60 Second Rule
What is it?
Before I tell you my thoughts on the 60 second rule, it might be helpful for you to know what it is. Right? Okay. The 60 second rule was introduced by an LA based esthetician called, Nayamka or the LABeautyologist on her social media platforms.
Nai basically noticed that we don’t wash our faces properly. At best, we put the product on for 15 seconds and we’re done. However, she believes that at minimum we need to be washing our face for 60 seconds. Hence the hashtag. She also said that it softens the skin, dissolves sebum blockages better, improves texture and evens skintone.
How do you do it?
You use your regular cleanser, as long as it is correct for you and gently massage it into your skin for 60 seconds. That’s it! Brushes aren’t required, just clean fingers and your cleanser.
What Happened?
I did the #60secondrule for a month and here are a few things I noticed. Firstly, a minute isn’t that long a time to be washing your face. It may appear to be the case in the beginning but really it’s a minute. Secondly, when you wash your face for 15 seconds, you forget parts of your face. The creases of your nose, your hairline and the sides of your face. It’s weird but true!
About a week after using this method I noticed my skin started to feel smoother. It’s almost as if the texture of my skin started to change and became a lot softer.
The other thing I noticed was that my serums and moisturisers were starting to work a lot better. Don’t get me wrong, they worked well before but now they were working better.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t a miracle skin solution but it is pretty good. It is a great addition to your skincare routine and having clean skin is not a bad thing. Plus if it helps with getting that glow, I’m all for it.
That’s my thoughts on the 60 second rule and now I’d love to know if you’ve tried this before? Or, will you? Let me know in the comments below.
