Spring will be here soon, on the 21st March to be exact and there’s all this excitement around. It’s been a long winter and most of us are over it! However, I wonder if we’re actually ready for it? I’m not only referring to the fashion, which I’m excited about. But are we mentally ready for a new season? Like nature; one thing ends and another begins so we must look at ourselves to see what adjustments if any we need to make. With this in mind here are my tips on preparing for spring.
Preparing for Spring
Spring Clean
During winter we tend to eat heavier, stodgier and richer foods. Lighten up on the heaviness and start looking at healthier, lighter food choices. Also, because there’s less daylight (really there’s none!) stuff gets piled up and pretty soon there’s a messy wardrobe overflowing. Time to clear out what you don’t need, want or use. You can sell your items on ebay, depop, gumtree and so on. The stuff that can’t be sold, donate to charity. Just think of that extra pair of shoes as the pair someone needs to get a new job. Clearing out your home doesn’t only involve clothing but other areas like your drains, gutters and pantry cupboards. For the gutters check out Clean Pro Gutter Cleaning HUMBLE who can make life easy for you.
Reflection
If you’re a church goer you will know that it’s the lenten season. If not, you know now ;). Not getting preachy on you but this is actually a great time to reflect on what no longer serves you. As in, does this job give you what you need? Will it ever give you what you need? Or, perhaps a friendship has been hanging on by a thread and you’re yet to draw a line under it. Why is that? Use the time to really figure out what you need and how you can achieve it.
Time Out
So your life is busy. You have the spouse, children, job, friends, family etc etc. When was the last time you took a time out for yourself? When was the last time you spent an hour in a cafe enjoying your drink, all by yourself? You are a priority in your life. If you don’t take care of you, then you won’t be able to take care of anyone else. So if you have children and give them time outs, take a leaf out of your book and give yourself one too!
To me preparing for a new season helps you to enjoy it more. You’re not weighed down by the ‘shoulds’. You know I should have done this. I should have done that and on and on. Perhaps it’s time to change the narrative. Hope you liked my tips on preparing for spring? What do you do to prepare for spring? Let me know in the comments below.
