Day 7: Tips to Simplify Christmas

Tips to simplify christmas

Hello lovely and happy Sunday! Welcome to day 7 of 12 days of Christmas and if you missed yesterday’s post you can find it here! We’re past the halfway point and I’d love to know in the comments below what you think about my very first blogmas. On today’s post I’m sharing a few tips to simplify Christmas because we all know that this season can be fun and joyful. However, between the parties, pies, cooking, decorating, shopping, planning, dressing and everything else in between, it can be stressful. So here are my tips…

Tips to Simplify Christmas

Don’t give a snake legs

You’re probably thinking what the hell is she talking about? If you watched Sesame Street then you’d get it! Simply put; don’t add unnecessary things to the season. If cooking is not your strong point, don’t volunteer to cook the christmas meal for 10! If you’re cooking, you don’t need to make everything from scratch and spend 10 hours in the kitchen prepping. Let this be your mantra…KEEP IT SIMPLE SEXY or as I like to say kiss it 😉

The internet is your friend

If you could order the food for Christmas dinner online, DO IT! If you can get next day delivery for the presents, DO IT! The internet and online shopping is your best friend. You have enough on your plate and you can use the internet to help simplify Christmas. Use the tools i.e. the internet, to support you during this busy time. You use outside of the holidays, so why change that?

You don’t need to do it all

Some of us believe that we need to have everything perfect because it’s Christmas. Well I have news for you…you don’t! Really this isn’t a 1950s television episode. We all have empires to build, families to raise, businesses to run, basically we got ish to do and lots of it. Yes we’d like our children to have a magical wonderful time but we need to temper that with realism. Parents, most children remember the time you spent and the love you give on the day. If you don’t believe me, think back to your childhood Christmas and what was most important?

Have Fun

My final tip is all about having fun and being in the moment. If you’re miserable and tired because you’ve spent hours prepping, shopping, cooking and doing it all then what’s the point? Christmas is a time for togetherness, humanity, joy and if we lose sight of that then it’s just a regular day with tons of food. So enjoy it and celebrate because you’ve earned it!

That’s all my tips to simplify Christmas. Hope it’s been helpful and if I’ve forgotten anything please share in the comments below.

As always thanks for reading and come back tomorrow for day 8!

Until next time, be well!

x
