Hello beautiful people! How have you been? I saw this trend on Tiktok where you share the things you’re too old for. I decided to share the 5 things I am too old for, skincare edition in this post. There are just some things that I don’t need to be doing because I know better.
5 Things I am Too Old For, Skincare Edition
Going Out Without Spf
Straight off the bat, I am too old to not wear spf especially when I am out. This protective layer helps keep to keep all the benefits of the hard work I’ve been doing. Wearing it, helps to minimise wrinkles by preventing UVA rays from attacking your skin. The one desert island product you must have is spf. There are affordable and effective ones. My favourite is by Thank You Farmer because it sinks into my skin and doesn’t leave me looking like a ghost.
Not Using Tretinoin
I’ve spoken about my use of tretinoin via Dermatica. As I’ve gotten older, taking care of my skin is more about prevention. It helps with acne, surface level wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots and sun-damaged skin. It is a wonder product that actually works. I’m too old not be using it as someone who is in her 40s.
Being Inconsistent
Using all these products are all great however, it means nothing if I’m inconsistent. One of the things I’ve realised is the importance of consistency and discipline. To be consistent, you have to be disciplined to yield the results that you want. So wearing spf once, only helps you on the day you use it. But it means absolutely nothing if you don’t wear it 80% of the time.
Harsh Skincare
I am a self proclaimed skincare junkie and was always trying product after product. I’ve not stopped trying and reviewing products. I am a lot more selective of what is used on my skin and harsh skincare is not the one. For me, gentle yet effective skincare is the way to go. Harsh products leads to a compromised skin barrier and the problems it causes.
Sleeping in Make-up
Finally, sleeping in make-up is a no no. We all know it’s bad for our skin and I’m too old to be doing this on a regular basis. I’m not perfect by any means but I do my best to remove any makeup before I sleep. My skin thanks me when I do this and in turn I feel better about it. A win, win all round.
