4 Movies That Inspired My Wanderlust

Ooh welcome back you beautiful travel fiend! Have you ever watched a movie that instantly made you want to travel? Me too! Here are 4 movies that inspired my wanderlust. I’ll say 4 but in reality there are more but these are the ones that have left a lasting impression.

4 Movies that Inspired my Wanderlust

Under the Tucsan Sun

If there was a moment that I could pinpoint exactly when I fell in love with Italy, it would be when I watched this movie. Based upon the book of the same name. It follows the main character who goes on a tour of Tuscany after her divorce and impulsively buys a villa. All I could say, is that movie made my lil trini heart want to pack her bags and movie to Italy. Instead, I ended up in England and travel to Italy every chance I get. Now that I’m older and divorced, I appreciate this movie even more. Also, the beauty of the parts of Italy shown are breathtaking. I’m talking to you Amalfi Coast.

Last Holiday

From Italy to Czech Republic, which is where most of this movie is set. This movie stars Queen Latifah and LL Cool J and starts off in the USA. Queen Latifah’s character, Georgia, is very down to earth, humble and spends very little on herself. She gets a diagnosis that gives her weeks to live so she decides to live her life now and have a luxury holiday at Hotel Pup. She opens up herself to being present and enjoying her life. I actually saw the hotel when I went on a work trip. The Czech Republic is beautiful and not just because the alcohol is cheap. The history, architecture and landscape are all stunning.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

I’ve never seen the older version of this but Ben Stiller totally knocks this role out of the park, in my humble opinion. His character works for the National Geographic and his department is going to be shut down. He embarks upon an adventure that he never imagined which changes his life. He travels through the Himalayas, Afghanistan and Greenland. The reality is that Afghanistan and Greenland were all shot in Iceland, which makes complete sense. The terrain in Iceland is unlike any I’ve seen and depending on when and where you go it looks completely different. It’s a feel good movie that reminds you, there’s so much more to life.

The Tourist

The glitz of this movie gets me everytime plus, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp are just yummy! A bit of intrigue, action, romance and the beauty of Venice. I’m aware that we’re in Italy again however, we start off in Paris and head to Venice. I’d love to travel to Venice by train from Paris one day and have the money to afford to stay in a 5 star hotel. Granted, my budget trip to Venice was really lovely and the food was still delicious and divine!

These are the 4 movies that inspired my wanderlust, what are yours? Let me know in the comments below. As always, thank you for reading and until next time, be well! x
