Hello my beautiful people! We’re in week 3 of UK lockdown 2.0, how is it going for you? During the previous lockdown, I started to develop some healthy habits. If you’re struggling with lockdown or, just life in general, maybe these tips can help you. Read on for my healthy habits for the single woman to cultivate.

Healthy Habits for the Single Woman to Cultivate

Daily Meditation and Prayer

One of the things I have noticed being locked up in the house is, the impact it can have on your mental health. Whilst your friends with families struggled with home schooling, we the single brigade will have different struggles. I remember saying to one of my best friends soon after lockdown 1.0, that I hadn’t had a hug since February. We all know how important human touch is and the impact it can have on our mental health. Apart from mindful self massages, I have started doing daily meditation and prayer. It’s a great start to my day and helps me feel good. Have you tried meditation before? Let me know in the comments below.

Exercise

I and everyone else harps on about exercise and there’s good reason for this. Firstly, moving your body and elevating your heart rate a little bit each day is a good thing! Secondly, exercise doesn’t have to be an all out HIIT workout or, even lifting weights. It can be that if you enjoy those workouts. I can honestly say that HIIT is not my favourite whilst I’m doing it however, it feels good after. Maybe put on some music and dance around your living room? When I was working, my colleagues and I had a boogie break. One of us would send a booty shaking song and we would dance around. Do that a few times a day and it makes a difference.

Creative Activities

Some people paint, sketch, do diy projects or play an instrument. Me I really enjoy taking photos. There’s something so therapeutic about using your hands to create. Here are a few photos I’ve taken over the past few months. You can check out my photography instagram page for more.

The whole creative process puts me in a different head space which makes me feel calm and hopeful. What would you like to create?

Increased Water Intake

Similar to exercise, drinking water is another thing being harped on about. I live by the motto, ‘drink water and mind my business, because I’ll probably be in the loo’. Funny but true. Bathroom runs aside, increasing my water intake has made a huge difference to my overall health. The Medik8 Vitamin C serum isn’t the only reason for my skin to be glowing.

Rest

My final tip in my healthy habits for the single woman to cultivate list is, rest. We have all been forced to slow down and take a breath. Use the opportunity to rest, heal and restore. I’ve suffered from insomnia before and this opportunity to slow down and just be has been a blessing. Don’t get me wrong, I always think I should be doing something. However, I started to ask myself why and who is benefiting. Because more rest will surely benefit me and you in the long run.

These are some of the healthy habits that I’m cultivating, what about you? What healthy habit are you cultivating?
