4 reasons you don't need to be positive all the time- Lisbon rooftops www.majeang.com

How are you my lovelies? Can you believe that we’re in March already? I don’t mind because it’s my birth month :). Today’s topic is all about positivity and the 4 reasons you don’t need to be positive all the time.

4 Reasons You Don’t Need to be Positive All the Time

Let me start off by saying that I’m not a negative nancy nor am I against positivity. What I am ‘against’ is the onslaught of positivity that we get from everywhere! Have you noticed on social media that if you express a less than positive outlook, it’s like you’re exiled until you join the happy band. So if you ever feel the pressure to be positive all the time, this post is for you.

It’s Inauthentic

We all know that life can throw some major curve balls. If you haven’t experience any as yet, don’t worry it’s coming. I don’t say that with malice, just fact. Having a positive outlook on life is healthy and amazing but, what’s not amazing is being ‘on’ all the time. It makes you look inauthentic because no one is able to relate to you on a human level. You can be seen as someone who has a perfect life and that is a pressure you don’t need. It’s okay to take the positivity hat off when you need to. You may find some life gems in the negative space.

The Human Experience

The second on this list of 4 reasons you don’t need to be positive all the time is, you miss the whole human experience. We human beings don’t like pain, discomfort or anything that causes us to be uncomfortable. However, the irony is that that’s where you meet who you truly are. You meet your resilience, your creativity and the whole richness of who you are comes alive in that space. If you let it.

Learn Something

Remember I mentioned life gems earlier? Well letting go of the constant positivity will help you with that. You will be able to learn how to be more flexible in your thinking. That my lovely will be a blessing and probably save your butt in more ways than you can imagine.

It’s Exhausting

Holding on to positivity can actually be a like an anvil on your head. It’s exhausting and you have a choice to put it down. Wouldn’t it feel a lot nicer if you could just have moments where you’re not weighed down? Take off the positive mask and allow yourself to just be. Be seen and supported. You will be surprised at how much energy you will regain.

Those are my 4 reasons you don’t need to be positive all the time. I’m not saying that being positive is bad. What I am saying is that wearing your positivity like a badge of honour and closing yourself off, to other types of emotions is not healthy. What are your thoughts on the whole positivity movement?
