The Statement Coat

statement coat

Hello, my fashion giraffes today’s post is all about the statement coat. It feels like we’ve been dealing with winter for the last 6 months and living in the UK you know what that means. Cold blustery winds, grey skies and rain! So I thought to cheer myself up, I would look for a statement coat.

Warning! This coat will turn heads!

The Statement Coat

Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are the best time to get some really great bargains. This coat was purchased from Miss Selfridge for a fraction of the original price and I was saving it for a special moment.

That special moment came when I couldn’t take the grey skies and cold weather anymore.

The Details

This coat has a mixture of wool which means it will keep you warm. It is a single-breasted coat with one button to fasten it.

I love pockets on coats and this does not disappoint. The pockets are wide and deep enough to shove cold, shivering hands in if you don’t wear gloves.

Styling it Up

As the statement coat is so statemented, I kept everything else relatively simple. Jeans, jumper and some grey over the knee boots. The boots have a bit of a lace up detail on the sides and the neutral colour balances out the vibrancy of the red colour.

If you want to mix things up, you could change the black button out for something more ornate, like this and this. Or, a simple thing would be to wrap the coat around you and fasten a belt around your waist. Something like this or this would work.

Would you wear such a statement coat? How would you style it? Let me know in the comments below.

As always thanks for reading and commenting.

Until next time, be well!
