In today’s *post we’re sharing what you need to remember for that final checklist before exploring the world. As the time draws closer for you to set off, excitement and anticipation will grow. Not only that, but you might feel a bit nervous – understandably. To ensure you’re ready for the adventure of a lifetime, we’ve got a couple of questions you should be able to answer. Check them out!
Final Checklist Before Exploring the World
1. Have you backed up your travel documents electronically?
Printing out two copies of your important travel documents won’t suffice in most situations. If you’ve lost one copy, it’s likely you’ll also have misplaced the other. To keep a secure copy of things like your passport, insurance, visas and bookings, you’ve got to scan them and upload them to the cloud. That way, you can access them wherever you are in the world. It’s one less thing to worry about.
2. Have you packed your smartphone?
There are few tricky situations where a smartphone won’t come in handy. As the Secret Traveller says, “it’s your torch. It’s your map. It’s your guidebook. It’s your camera. It’s your iPod. It’s your access to reviews and travel tips. It’s your connection to family and friends.” Get your phone unlocked so you can use local sims, and use it to your advantage.
3. Do you have a lock for your bag?
By this point, you should have a bag that locks. It’s the easiest way to deter petty crime when you’re travelling and protect your belongings. Check out this review of some of the most popular luggage locks and buy one before you go.
4. How are you planning on keeping in touch with family and friends?
Your loved ones at home will want to know when – and how often – they can expect to hear from you. You don’t have to keep in touch constantly, but let them know when you’re likely to have Wi-Fi so you can Skype to have a quick catch up. As Travels of Adam explains, you can log in to Skype on your iPhone, for instance, and your parents log into Skype on their computer. As long as you both have accounts, you can video chat for free.
