Solo Travel, What I Learnt

places crossed off my wanderlust list-Teleférico de Barcelona

Short work weeks are the best! It’s Thursday already, which means two things; the weekend is almost here and I have another travel post for you :). Today’s post is what I learnt about solo travel. I’m not sure if you noticed but I went to Barcelona on my own. It was my first solo trip and I thought I would share with you what I learnt, in case you were thinking of doing one yourself.

Solo Travel

Liberating

I found solo travel to be liberating and that was surprising. I didn’t have to think about another person and what they wanted or needed. If I wanted to have a lie in, then I could without feeling guilty. Being able to decide when, where and how was all down to me on this trip. I could be as adventurous as I wanted to and didn’t feel bad walking around for hours. My feet did, but I didn’t!

Lonely

As liberating as it was, solo travel can be a bit lonely at times. I went on birthday and it would have been nice to have had a drink or dinner with someone. However, being me, I think it’s good to be lonely sometimes because I learn more about myself. To me, that’s a price worth paying.

Resourceful

I believe most experiences show you who you are and how resourceful you can be. Whether that’s figuring out how to get from point A to point B on public transport. Or, bartering for that item that you truly want, in another language that you don’t speak fluently!

Self-timer is your BFF

This is something my fellow bloggers, would truly understand. You have no Instagram husband/friend/wife/family to take pictures of you in some cute outfit, in front of a fabulous view. Thankfully, modern technology can help in most instances with this, in the form of your self-timer.

Although my solo travel was short and a mixed bag of feelings, I would love to do it again!  Have you ever taken a trip by yourself? How was it for you? Let me know in the comments below!

As always, thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe for more posts!

Until next time, be well!
