Hello gorgeous and welcome to day 2 of my 12 days of Christmas. If you missed the last post, there’s still time to enter the competition. As the title suggests, we’re going to be doing a diy wreath. I realised that I haven’t been feeling the Christmas spirit so I thought maybe decorating would help. Small problem…I don’t have any decorations and so I decided to do a diy wreath.
What you need
Most of these items were picked up from Hobbycraft but check Pound Stretcher or any place that sell decorations inexpensively. The idea is to get creative. Take a look at pinterest for ideas too!
Metallic spray paint
What to do
I wanted to add dried oranges to my diy wreath, so I sliced one medium sized orange and placed them on a try lined with grease proof paper. Stuck them in a warm oven at 100 degrees for about an hour. After 40 mins I turned them over and they didn’t seem to need longer on the other side. Side note, they came out slightly burnt (oops). That’ll teach me to ignore the timer!
Whilst the oranges were drying
burning I spray painted the wooden hearts and dismantled the mistletoe. Just want to interject to please protect your flooring by placing plastic and paper under the items before painting. I placed the items around the wreath to have a visual of how it would look.
Finally the orange slices were done and once they cooled I sprayed a light dusting of the copper spray paint.
Using my hot glue gun, I glued the bows and now dried metallic hearts. To attach the orange slices I used two hair pins and twisted the ends to the back.
Be sure to stop by tomorrow for day 3 of my 12 days of Christmas, it’s going to be luxurious 🙂
Also don’t forget to enter my competition.
Until next time, be well
