Things to see in Dubai

Bur dubai

As you might have gathered from my last two posts (click here and here) I was away in Dubai. I really had no expectations, except I really wanted to ride a camel in the desert which unfortunately didn’t happen 🙁 However, don’t cry for me Argentina I saw lots of other beautiful and wonderful places. So here’s my list of things to see in Dubai.

Things to See in Dubai

Let’s start with Bur Dubai, which means, Old Dubai. To reach this place we had to take a boat across and after a short walk we ended up in the zouk (market). It is a shopaholic’s dream come true. Anything and everything you could possibly want or need is in this place. For me what was truly beautiful, were the colours, smells, sounds and sparkly stuff 😉 My photographs have not done them justice, but hopefully you get the idea.

It showed me another side to Dubai that I was not expecting.

Next, we have the Dubai Mall. I know, I know but this mall has everything! When I say everything, I truly do mean it!

The aquarium is something to behold especially since there are sharks swimming in there!

There’s also the world’s largest crocodile, however I opted not to go in. I love animals but somehow it felt a bit cruel to me plus my motto is, I don’t mess with you and you don’t mess with me. It’s worked fine all these years.

Dubai at Night

Finally at Dubai Mall, we have the piece de resistance (drum roll)….the water fountains. Similar to Las Vegas the water is switched on and made to move in time with music, with the Burj Al Khalifa in the back ground it gave a magical feel to the place.

Moving on, if you’re in the mood to enjoy a couple of cocktails try Noir. The newest venture of the Kempinski Hotel a 5 star hotel which has a stunning reception! Noir feels decadent, mysterious with a kick ass wrap around balcony. At the opening, there were masked men and women wondering around, canapes; giving you a taste of the sumptuous menu on offer with champagne and wines flowing. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to take many pics or try their cocktails but suspect they would not disappoint.

So if you’re thinking about going to Dubai, I hope my little list helps and you have a great time. Let me know below if you’ve been before and if there’s anything else I should have seen.

As always thanks for reading!
