Hello beautiful! How are you? I hope you were able to celebrate the holidays in whatever way you wanted too. Welcome to 2016!
I am sure that you have seen a million and one blog posts about new year resolutions? Well here’s one more but with a twist. First off let me start off by saying that you’re awesome and in no way need to have a ‘new you’. Got that? Good! I get so annoyed (no offense to anyone) with the whole bandwagon that we’re all meant to jump upon because it’s the start of a new year. It’s great if you just survive an entire year….but maybe that’s just me. However, if you want to accomplish a few things that your heart desires, then more power to you. Just don’t feel pressure to do anything you don’t want to do.
If you would like to create and complete goals, here are a few of my tips that you might find useful
Yes my beautiful friends, we are often bombarded with a lot of things to do and see that we think we can do it all. Which we can; just not all at once. For example, don’t say you’d like to lose 3 stone (just under 50 lbs) this year when you have a demanding job and very active social life. A more realistic goal may be to aim for half that number or less. Do what you realistically can manage.
Set a date
When you put a date to a goal, it tells your brain that you’re serious and it’s not a wishful dream that you want to do some day in the future. A date adds weight to it and it means you can…
Chunk it down
Yes a goal on it’s own can be overwhelming, but if you chunk it down into small pieces, it makes it a lot easier and fun! Plus the additon of the date gives you a timeline to work with. Going back to the weight loss goal and you look at all the components you will be able to see which parts you can chop up smaller.
Ask for help
There’s a wealth of information out there and it can be daunting. If you feel that you need to enlist the help of those in the know; whether it’s a friend who has done it before or pay an expert then go do it. Success always footprints….follow them!
Finally, make it fun!
There’s nothing more soul destroying than do something that’s boring and monotonous. If you realise that going to the gym is not for you but you like dancing, find a dance class to join. You’re more inclined to stick at your goal if you enjoy it.
So to recap, do what you want and if my tips helps…great. Just always remember that….
