Hello peeps. So the holidays are coming up and that means party season and gift shopping. In the midst of all the partying, eating all the holiday food and elbowing your way through the throngs of shoppers we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. In light of this I thought I would offer some tips and tricks to look after yourself during the season.
1. Water- during the holiday season there will be a lot of alcohol and rich food consumption. What’s the point of celebrating the season without some festive food and drink to match? However, there might be some over consumption which can make us feel bloated and dry out our skin. To combat this; drink lots of water. It helps to flush out toxins which is fantastic for your skin and it helps prevent water retention. The paradox is that the more water you drink the less water you retain. Great news when you need to wear that slinky fitted dress for the office Christmas party 😉
2. Coconut oil- this is a holy grail product because you can use this for a myriad of treatments. For instance, if you want to fade dark underarms to wear that hot sleeveless jumpsuit; mix a bit of baking soda with some coconut oil until it turns into a paste; spread it on your clean underarms and leave on for 15 minutes. Hopefully this will work for you as well as it worked for me:)
3. Sea Salt– winter weather can dry out your skin and make it look dry and ashy. Not cute! To buff away dryness and create a smooth canvass for your moisturiser, use sea salt. You can use it plain in the shower or, you can add some olive oil and your favourite essential oil with it. Soon that dry skin will not be a bother and your skin will love you for it.
4. The final tip is coffee- this cheap and cheerful ingredient when mixed with brown sugar and olive oil makes a fantastic scrub to reduce cellulite. All of us girlies struggle with this so don’t get fooled by the Photoshopped models in the magazines, they have it too. The coffee creates a tightening effect on the skin to reduce the cottage cheese look.
The holiday season is a great time of the year but it can also be the most stressful time and it is important to give ourselves some TLC. I hope the tips were helpful. Do you have some tips and tricks that you find useful? Share in the comments below.
